I'm a regular visitor to Indie Hackers and I ran across someone who quickly hacked together a site for showing off Bitcoin's current price and what you could buy with it. I thought that was neat and figured "I could do something like that but for Ethereum." So I purchased a domain and started hacking.

I started off with a Bootstrap v4 template for the design. I then hooked up the site to query Crypto Compare's API and created an Amazon Affiliates account. I used a library that made working with the affiliate API very easy. After that, it was just a matter of gathering a list of awesome product id's from Amazon and query a few of them at every request. I didn't want to hammer Amazon's API so I limited it to a few product lookups per request and I cache the responses.

The last part was to deploy the app. I went with Heroku because deploying on their platform is incredibly easy. I connected my GitHub project to Heroku and now anytime I update my project it automatically deploys the site. I hadn't deployed on Heroku for years and honestly, I was so happy with how easy it was to deploy.

It's been some time since I've released a side-project but it felt great to actually ship something. Its sparked the fire to build another side project which will take a bit longer to finish but I hope to release soon. More on that in the near future.
